Opulence 212 focuses on Process before Results to address Systems Thinking as a technique of addressing architectural design. A Hotels design is vital for creating a positive experience for guests. Including a biophilic atmosphere will increase guests' well-being & provide an urban oasis from the concrete jungle. The biomorphic sculpture form is designed to connect with the site on multiple levels, especially since its location (Chelsea, NY) is an art district. The adjacent park emerges onto the site to create a node for social engagement of the public realm; this connects the design to the site's context while advancing & improving the social conditions. Design strategies used to achieve this include open space & recreation principles, shaded gathering points, street connectivity, & pedestrian pathways. The site's context influences the design through the forms' rotation to orient towards views; the final result faces the park & the waterfront. The circulation is designed using a stigmergic swarm model that uses inputs of information from the site to connect to the site & find the optimized pathway based on the inputs given. The landscape geometry is extracted from the results of a stigmergy test run at the global & local scales.

Stress lines were extracted using millipede as a structural analysis tool which was then rationalized into a formal catalog.
